DISCOVER

Receive an exclusively curated rental list for you to explore. Then discover the locals only insights from in and around your new hood.

With housing prices increasing there has been even higher demand for rental properties. This demand puts further stress and strain on people who already feel overwhelmed by a process that can be rushed, competitive, uneducated and costly.

RESEARCH

To further understand this problem and develop a solution based on research and not just assumptions, I focused on the process in which people go through to find a rental property.

By conducting surveys and facilitating one on one interviews, user testing and competitor analyses, I set out to develop a user centered design solution that; “Made a renter feel just as important as a buyer”.

The research identified key pain points, important user goals and what they are thinking and feeling when going through the process.

From personas, I developed a User Journey that best represents the everyday experience for someone looking for a rental property.

SOLUTION

My solution is to generate a curated property list for the user which is based on their needs and wants. This is to eliminate the stress and anxiety of trying to navigate over 200 properties on a map based souly on location.

By focusing on things like: safety, schools, transport, proximity to CBD, lifestyle and value for money, a property short list can be develop highlighting strengths and weaknesses of each property and its location.

LOCATION INSIGHTS

Research showed that inside the top 100 most desirable suburbs to live in Sydney, over 80 were found in 4 key metropolitan areas. Eastern Suburbs, Sydney CBD, Inner West and Lower North Shore.

To help users identify key characteristic of these areas, my solution also offered an Explore feature. This would pull information from a variety of cultural based websites and blogs, giving them a snapshot of what each area has to offer.
